Club Championships

The 2022 Club Championships is now done and dusted. Congratulations to Blade Gadd on winning the Penrith Golf Club 2022 Club Championship. After starting the final round 3 shots behind the overnight leader Dale Hughes, Blade shot a round of 72 in ugly conditions to take this years title from brother and 2021 Club Champion Josh Gadd and Dale Hughes who both finished 2 shots adrift. Well done Blade on a terrific effort.
Thanks to the efforts of Justin our course superintendent, we were able to get the final round played after a deluge on Sunday morning which at one point the general consensus was we had no chance of playing. Also, a special thanks to the 15 players who contested the final round enabling the Championship to come to a conclusion. Conditions weren’t pretty and it was certainly testing material.
Saturday saw the conclusion of the graded championships and other championship events. Congratulations to our other major event winners with Xavier Button taking out the Junior Championship for the 2nd year running by 5 shots from runner up Ryder Jerzyna. And another back to back winner, Graeme Howland defended his 2021 Senior Champion title taking out this years event by 1 shot over Terry Saunders and Peter Morris. See summary of results for a list of individual results.
Congratulations to the following other major event winners:
A Reserve Champion – Brendon Kop
B Grade Champion – Michael McKenzie
C Grade Champion – Bob Cloey
Veterans Champion – Colin Neill
See full results below.
Well done and thank you for everyone who competed this year that was again marred by the weather and cut short by 1 round.

2022 Club Championship – Round 1

The 1st round of the 2022 Club Championship was played last Saturday in glorious weather. Please see the current leader board here for each grade and category. Good luck to all in the 2nd round which will be the final round for all events except the overall Club Championship.
Please remember the Top 8 players for the Club Championship and the Top 4 in each other graded Championship must play in the seeded draw for the 2nd this week to be eligible to win that event. The timesheet draw for this has been completed. There will be a small presentation on Saturday after results are finalised.
The 3rd and final round of the Club Championship will entail a cut of the top 16 players plus ties and will be played on Sunday. If you are in contention please keep an eye out for an email and/or text with your tee time on Saturday evening.

Update from the Golf Committee

The weather gods have again played havoc with our event schedule. As a result of the rain received on the course, it is not in a suitable condition to host round 1 of the 2022 Club Championships tomorrow.
As a result, round 1 of the Club Championships has been postponed to next Saturday 15 October 2022 and the event will therefore become a 54 hole event for the Club Championship and 36 hole event for the grade based Championships (scratch), all nett events and all aged based events.
The second round for the Club Championship will be held on Saturday 22 October 2022 and will be a seeded draw.
The final round for the all grade based Championship events (scratch) will be seeded with the top 4 players in each grade and will also take place on Saturday 22 October 2022. The final round for ALL nett events and aged based Championship events will also be held on Saturday 22 October 2022.
The final round of the Club Championship being the top 16 scratch scores will take place of Sunday 23 October 2022.
We will revaluate the situation next week and advise further what, if any, other changes will be made.
If the course is open tomorrow there will be a Single Stableford event only. The timesheet bookings will remain as is. Please cancel your booking online if you have no intention of playing.
If you have any questions please see a member of the Golf Committee.
Regards from a wet Golf Committee!
