GOLF NEWS UPDATE // We trust you are all safe and healthy. These are certainly trying times for everyone, but we are in a fortunate position whereby golf can still be played albeit under restricted conditions – but the alternative is not much fun. We can understand everybody’s irritation at not being able to play when they want and with who they want.

With the current restrictions we are down to field capacity of 70% of our normal capacity for this time of year which is hard at the best of times with the shorter winter days.

Unfortunately, there is a growing number of members who are missing out on a game on weekends whilst at the same time there is a high number of members who are playing both Saturday and Sunday as well as at other times during the week. This is not equitable for all members, and we still need to bear in mind that there is still a high number of members who still need to work during the week and can only play on the weekend which of course is limited. We do ask if you can play on the weekday to do so and leave the weekend spots to those members who cannot play during the week. It is during times like this we need to be thoughtful of everyone including your fellow members.

In an effort to ensure we set a fair and equitable environment for all members, effective from this Saturday the following tee booking arrangement will be in place:

⛳Each member will only be able to have 1 open booking at any one time in the system,
⛳The timesheet for both Saturday and Sunday will open on the preceding Friday at 7.00 pm as it does now. The main change here will be a member will now only be able to book a time slot on Saturday or Sunday. This does not mean you cannot play both days but first preference for a tee time on Sunday will be for members who cannot get a Saturday tee time. Members will still be able to utilise the wait list for Sunday and once the competition is finished on Saturday will be able to book a Sunday tee time subject to availability. Sunday with now be a members only day – no visitors will be allowed,
⛳The timesheet for Mondays will open on the preceding Sunday night at 7.00 pm,

With the significant uncertainty around the curren

With the significant uncertainty around the current lockdowns in Sydney please note the following;

Timesheet Bookings -
⛳The Saturday and Sunday timesheet will open on the Friday evening immediately before the weekend at 7.00 pm.
⛳The timesheet for Wednesday and Friday will open the Saturday evening immediately preceding these days at 7.00 pm.
⛳The Monday timesheet will open on the immediate preceding Thursday at 7.00 pm.
⛳The timesheets for the Thursday Ladies competition will continue to open as per normal.

As you could appreciate with the playing groups being reduced to 2 has resulted in a significantly reduced field capacity. As such each member will only be able to book in 1 other member per booking and will also only be able to have a maximum of 2 bookings at any one time. Unfortunately this may mean some people will miss out on a tee time, mainly on Saturdays. If you cannot book a tee spot on Saturday please ensure you put your name on the Waiting List. Any player who remains on the Waiting List on Saturday and does not get a game on the Saturday or Sunday will have first preference the following Saturday.

Until further notice visitors and reciprocal club members will not be permitted to play on Saturdays which is a member’s only competition day.

In the interests of all members during these times, especially for those who cannot play on weekdays, if you are able to play on days other than Saturday’s we are ask you consider playing these days and leave the Saturdays to the players who cannot play on other days.

⛳Competitions - until further notice all competitions will be Single Stableford events only. There will be no team based events or stroke events. The Xmas in July event scheduled Sunday 18 July and the American Foursomes event scheduled for 31 July have been cancelled,
⛳Mixed Foursomes Championship - the 2nd round will be deferred to a date to be determined,
⛳Other Major Events - the Spence Wood matchplay has been postponed and a decision will be made later down the track when we have more certainty about future lockdown rules.

Due to the new NSW Government regulations announce

Due to the new NSW Government regulations announced this morning, as of 5pm today, the following new restrictions will be in place:
🏌Golf playing groups must be limited to no more than two players.
🏌People must stay in their Local Government Area or within 10km of home for exercise and outdoor recreation, with no carpooling between non-household members.

Due to the above new restrictions, regretfully we need to cancel all previous golf bookings that have been made. All booking sheets will be revised and will re-open from 7pm tonight. The second round of Mixed Foursomes for Sunday will be deferred until further notice. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience.

As most of you will be aware, NSW Health have extended the Sydney-wide lock down for another week until 11.59pm Friday, 16 July.

Due to the mandatory stay-at-home orders, Seven Hills RSL, Pennant Hills Bowling Club as well as the clubhouse for Fox Hills Golf Club and Penrith Golf Club will remain closed until the restrictions are lifted.

Thankfully, at this stage there are no changes with golf, the rules currently in place are the same. Tee time bookings will remain online. We will keep you posted on any updates as they occur on our Club website or Club Facebook page. Thank you for your understanding.
