It is imperative for the score card marker to understand that your signature on the score card and/or in the mobile scoring app. indicates that the scores that you have signed for are correct. If you do not agree with the scores being given to you, then it is up to you as the marker to question the score / scores at the earliest possible time the discrepancy is noticed. If there is a discrepancy in the scoring, then it is up to you (the marker and the player) to go through the shots in question with the player that you are scoring for. If after this process you both cannot agree on the score, then the marker has the right to not sign the score card and/or mobile scoring app. and report it to the committee for assessment.
We understand that in instances some golfers may not completely understand the rules regarding penalties, etc; but usually within the playing group there will be at least one player that will understand any penalties involved.
Golf is a game of honesty and integrity and it is the responsibility of all players to assist each other to ensure the scores are correct and to help protect the integrity of the game.
